The first and final documents in this folder consist of correspondence between Lucile Montgomery and Otis Brown, Jr., an MFDP worker in Indianola, Mississippi, who is generally reporting on the progress of the Sunflower community center and asking for money to continue the project. There's also a report on Sunflower County incidents related to efforts to desegregate a movie theater in the spring of 1965. An undated (1966?) letter from John Harris discusses the possibility of Indianola's having the first elected black municipal officials if a massive voter registration campaign can be funded, now that a federal injunction has made the voter registration process identical for whites and blacks. A newspaper clipping reports that municipal elections have been postponed in Sunflower County due to passage of the new Voting Rights Act. There's a blank official voter registration form used in Mississippi before the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and a running summary of incidents in Sunflower Cou
