Holograph, signed.
On pages 1-2 of this manuscript, there is a letter from James Miller M'Kim to Wendell Phillips. M'Kim asks Wendell Phillips to deliver to Mrs. Maria Weston Chapman a Bible and a prayer book "containing as a frontispiece, Schaeffers [sic] picture of Christ the Consoler," with the black man left out. These books are for the southern trade.
On pages 2-3 of this manuscript, there is a separate note by James Miller M'Kim presumably to Maria Weston Chapman. M'Kim asks Maria W. Chapman if she intends to send the Bible and prayer book (described in the previous letter) to Mr. Ary Scheffer. M'Kim knows the publisher Lippincott personally, and he knows the artist who engraved the picture.
