Jacob Rudd Shipherd writes to William Lloyd Garrison inviting him to "come all the way to Chicago to talk to the people here on slavery & the war." Shipherd assures Garrison the people are "Ready to hear with gladness the strongest things you can say." The letter is signed "Jacob R. Shipherd, Pastor Plymouth Ch."
