Title devised by cataloger.
On verso, the letter is addressed to "Wm. Lloyd Garrison care of Wm. Rathbone merchant Liverpool" and it is postmarked with a purple square stamp reading, "Glasgow Paid N JY 31 1840."
This date is inferred.
In this letter to William Lloyd Garrison, William Smeal sends Garrison a letter from Liverpool "and some particulars relative to the Georgia Slaves" which John Murray's son, James O. Murray, omitted from his father's paper. He reports that Charles Lenox Remond "is ill with inflamation of the chest" and Smeal's brother, "a medical man" has tried to help him. He also tells Garrison that Remond cannot attend the upcoming anti-slavery meeting and it has been pushed back a few days to allow George Thompson to return and attend the meeting. After his autograph, Smeal asks, "Isn't the Report a good one?" telling Garrison how many copies they have had printed and remarking that George Thompson "is delighted w[i]t[h] the account." He also then shares some news of their friends and their locations.
