Boston Public Library (Rare Books Department) manuscript composed in black ink on white, lined paper with an embossed octagon in the head- spine corner containing an image of the United States Capitol under the word "Congress". Above the salutation the number "27" is written in pencil and in the tail- spine corner "18" is also written in pencil. On verso, along the head edge, "G.T. N.Y. February 29, 1864" is written in pencil.
George Thompson writes to William Lloyd Garrison after arriving in New York. He reports that he has seen Oliver Johnson and has been invited to dine with General [John C.] Fremont and his wife.
