William Smeal writes to William Lloyd Garrison sending "a parcel of Reports ... of our Glasgow Emancipation Society." Smeal tells Garrison he was "induced to send them, seeing that we are indebted to the Mass. A.S.S. for a parcel of things." Smeal states that "Dr. McLean" will pay for his subscription to the Liberator and his debt for receiving the Non-Resistant for over a year. He also mentions that he and John Murray "have been delighted with the Lib[erator] from our dear friend J[ohn] A. Collins" and they were pleased to hear that Cha[rle]s L. Remond had returned safely to the United States. In the postscript, Smeal mentions he was present for a speech delivered by George Thompson "in the cause of cheap food for the poor ... [which] was one of the best I ever heard him deliver; & made a most extraordinary impression."
